The “Camarín de la Virgen de las Nieves” Museum is located in Santa Cruz de La Palma and hosts a collection of religious art, articles made of precious metals, votives and the treasure of the Real Santuario church.
HISTORY
The Camarín Museum dates back to 1978 when the rear section was added to the Real Santuario de las Nieves church. This building expanded the old chapel and incorporated new areas like the Sacristy and the Servants of the Virgin Room.

THE COLLECTION
The strong devotion to the Virgen de las Nieves acted as a protective force around this exceptional art collection that has survived violent conflicts, confiscations and losses due to scarcity, permitting us to take in its beauty even today.

The natural surroundings elevate this sacred space
The museum is located on a hill between the El Río and La Madera ravines. Next to the Real Santuario church, do not miss out on the Pilgrim’s House, Rectory and the Casa Guisla enroute.
“Las Nieves” Natural Park, the hill nearby the Sanctuary, offers a great view to the visitors.

Morro de la Virgen, an archaeological site with an indigenous space for rituals featuring depressions and channels, is next to the church.
The Ruta de los Molinos is a path along the Bellido hills featuring the most impressive complex of hydraulic mills on the Canary Islands.
The Ruta del Electrón follows the El Río ravine all the way to El Electrón, the first hydroelectric power station on the Canary Islands.
The Ruta del Agua is a trail along the ravine towards the city, which includes archaeological areas (Carías caves) and features of ethnographic interest (hydraulic infrastructure, Quinta Verde).
